Lesser Minds -

Good news for the modern man

PROJECT SUMMARY

Lesser Minds – Good News for the Modern Man is a cohesive visual identity system developed for a hardcore release spanning vinyl packaging, cassette design, inserts, labels, and promotional assets. The project centers on a restrained two-color palette and a recurring chain motif to reinforce themes of tension, confinement, and resistance.

Typography was treated as a structural element rather than decoration, using bold condensed forms and rigid grid logic to create a sense of compression and impact across formats. The identity was engineered to translate consistently between 12" LP packaging, cassette components, record labels, and extended print applications, maintaining visual continuity at multiple scales.

LP (12” Vinyl)

The LP packaging was designed as the primary expression of the visual system. The 12" format allowed the chain motif and condensed typography to operate at full scale, emphasizing weight and containment through rigid framing and high-contrast color blocking. Front and back covers, insert layouts, and record labels were developed within a controlled grid structure to ensure consistency across all printed components. The result is a cohesive physical package engineered for clarity, impact, and durability in a vinyl context.

cassette

The cassette release adapts the core identity system to a compact format without sacrificing visual integrity. Key typographic treatments and color relationships were preserved while rebalancing scale and hierarchy to function within the constraints of J-card dimensions and shell labeling. The layout was restructured to maintain legibility and structural tension at a smaller size, ensuring continuity between vinyl and cassette formats while respecting the unique proportions of each medium.
